Trunk Club

Why I like Trunk Club.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and one day realized, "What the hell am I wearing?"  If you have never done this in your life, kudos to you!  Let's be honest, as we age and go through life, not only do we change, but so does our wardrobe.  There's no way in heck I'd be caught wearing something I did in college nor would I wear anything from my 20s. Or.........Would I?

Here's where the gray area began for me. I had my first child around age 30 and then my wardrobe slowly started to fail.  I was a "Mom" now, so I need to dress like a mom.  That's at least what I thought. (wrong) As the years continued to go by, I found myself wearing less cute items and questioning what was age appropriate for my lifestyle.

I'm so happy that I stepped out the box and tried Trunk Club over a year ago.  It helped open my eyes to clothes that I would have never looked at or tried on in store.  On top of that, who has time to go shopping for hours and hours? No matter your age or lifestyle, life is busy.

J Crew jean button down shirt. Believe it or not, jean on jean is actually a trend right now.

Here are some of the reasons why Trunk club just works for me.

1). It's personal.
When you first sign up, you are connected with a stylist. You will begin messaging or talking on the phone so the stylist can get to know you, what you are looking for, your likes and dislikes, etc.   I also created a Pinterest board of outfits that interest me and attached it to my profile.  Trunk Club has a new feature that allows you to send pictures to your stylist for added assistance. For example: (I bought a new pair of pink heels and sent a picture of them so she could come up with an outfit).

2). Quality Clothing.
This is huge for me. Most items coming from Nordstrom.  In my past experience using other style services, the clothing was less quality. I know you are thinking, I bet it's expensive. Well, yes and no.  You can tell your stylist price points you are willing to pay. That's the beauty of it, you make the rules.  Also, being a Nordstrom Company, they have the BEST policies for returns and shipping. Always free, all the time.  If you buy an item from Trunk Club and months later you regret buying it, return it! No questions asked. As long as the tags are still in place and it was never worn. You can not do this with other style services, once you buy the item, it's usually a done deal.

3). Outfit Inspirations.
Love this!  When your trunk is complete. Your stylist will put together outfits from the items in your trunk and also incorporate previous items you have purchased within the inspirations. Now you have a flowing wardrobe.  I also like that if I do not buy a part of the outfit, I can always find it somewhere else, because I was given the vision.  For example: (I didn't buy a pair of open toe booties they sent and instead found a cheaper pair somewhere else. I still made the outfit inspiration come to life).

4). Vacation or Specific Item Trunks.
Jeff and I took a trip to the Bahamas in March and I requested a vacation trunk.  My stylist sent me tropical dresses and clothing. This made my life so much easier!  I have also requested specific trunks such as "only cocktail dresses", "swimsuits", "accessories trunk",  or you could even do a "shoe trunk". I have not requested a shoe trunk yet, but would love to hear if someone decides to do this!

5). No Style Fee. No Obligations. No Autoships.
If you are Nordstrom card holder, the styling fee is waived. Yep, this service is 100% free.  If you are not, it is a $25 style fee, and that $25 will go toward the items you purchase. No money lost.  I originally was not a Nordstrom card holder and after several trunks, they waived my fee because of consistent purchases. Trunk Club also does not require recurring trunks. You control it. When you want one, you request one. As I said earlier, you make the rules.

One of the BEST things I gained from using this style service is realizing I am not "too old" or "too much of a mom"  to wear almost anything! Well..........maybe not a crop top. ha.

Sometimes, we just need a fresh eye to help us figure it out!   My husband and mother also signed up to try it in the past.  Both of them had success in finding a few items they each love!

One little piece of advice, it takes patience in the beginning. It may take several trunk declines and feedback to your stylist before you click.  Be honest, be detailed, be real.  It will only help YOU and your WARDROBE in the end!
