Headspace

Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It determines how we relate to others, make decisions, and handle stress.  Being in healthcare, I always knew it was a worldwide issue but I never truly understood it until it impacted me personally.

There is an app called Headspace that has dramatically changed my life. This service provides guided meditation and mindfulness training. I have never meditated before using Headspace and frankly didn't quite understand it.

The first thought that used to come to my mind when someone says "meditation", I picture sitting criss-cross, eyes closed, in silence, with my hands in a pose.  Um, impossible. It is nothing like that if you don't want it to be. This app is super convenient and easy to use. I started out meditating only 3 minutes a day. Now I do 10 minutes daily.  I fit it in when I can. Sometimes, when I'm in the school, car rider line, waiting to pick up my child or laying down before bed. What a difference it can make to your day.

Check out this article in regards to meditation and how it can change your brain and promote overall wellness.  When I read this article, my mind was blown.

All about Headspace.
If you sign up for Headspace the first 10 days are free.  If you sign up monthly or yearly, the app has so many categories and options for guided meditation. Here are several examples of the categories: Managing Anxiety, Stress, Sleep, Depression, Patience, Pregnancy, Restore, Focus, Acceptance, Dealing with Grief, Regret, Happiness, Relationships, Kindness, Productivity, Balance, and Guilt are just to name a few. There are so many more and a lot of other features of this app!

I also love the words and wisdom that come from the mindfulness training piece. There are even animations that teach lessons for better understanding. This app is even good for teens and children when using the animations.

During the "Patience" sessions a take a way I learned,  "It's more about letting go of impatience than it is about developing patience."

One last mindful thought,  "It's not about getting rid of anxiety, it's about changing your relationship with anxiety."

Please reach out with any additional questions regarding Headspace. I'm happy to help. Trust me, it takes time and practice but it is totally possible to have a happier mind, calmer mind, clearer mind, and better YOU.

Thanks for reading.
Love, Rose
